What is CliftonStrengths?
CliftonStrengths is a strengths-based assessment developed by Gallup that helps identify your natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. These patterns, called talents, can be intentionally developed into strengths through knowledge, skill, and practice.
Is CliftonStrengths a personality test?
Not exactly. While CliftonStrengths provides insight into how you naturally operate, its focus is on identifying talents and potential strengths rather than categorizing personality types.
Why choose The Growth Conversation instead of taking CliftonStrengths on my own?
You can absolutely take CliftonStrengths on your own. Many people do.
The difference is what happens after you receive your results.
Most people quickly recognize parts of themselves in the report, but they often have questions about what the results actually mean, how their strengths work together, or how to apply what they've learned in everyday life.
That's where the conversation comes in.
At The Growth Conversation, the focus isn't simply on understanding your strengths. It's on exploring what they mean for your relationships, leadership, career, decision-making, and personal growth. Together, we move beyond the report and into meaningful reflection and application.
What makes your debrief different from simply reading the CliftonStrengths report myself?
The report provides information. The conversation creates insight.
Many people recognize themselves in their results but aren't always sure how to apply what they're learning. During our conversation, we'll explore what resonates, what surprises you, and how your strengths may be showing up in your work, relationships, leadership, and everyday life.
My role isn't to tell you who you are. My role is to help you discover what your results might mean for you.
Do I need to be a leader to benefit from CliftonStrengths?
Not at all.
CliftonStrengths can be valuable for anyone interested in greater self-awareness, personal growth, career development, communication, relationships, or leadership.
Whether you're early in your career, navigating a transition, leading a team, or simply wanting to better understand yourself, CliftonStrengths can provide meaningful insight into how you naturally think, work, and relate to others.
What is the difference between CliftonStrengths Top 5 and Full 34?
Your Top 5 highlights the themes that are most naturally dominant for you. Full 34 provides your complete ranked profile across all 34 CliftonStrengths themes, offering a more comprehensive view of how your talents work together.
Are there right or wrong results when taking the CliftonStrengths assessment?
No.
There is no ideal strengths profile. Your results are unique to you and are intended to support self-awareness, growth, and development.
What if my CliftonStrengths results surprise me?
That's often where the most meaningful insights begin.
Many people find at least one strength that feels unexpected or doesn't immediately resonate. Rather than viewing that as a problem, we'll get curious about it together. Sometimes a strength shows up differently than the description suggests. Other times, the surprise reveals patterns you've never had language for before.
The goal isn't to force agreement with your results. It's to explore what feels true, what doesn't, and what you discover through the conversation.
What if my CliftonStrengths results don't seem accurate?
That's okay.
CliftonStrengths is designed to spark insight and conversation, not place you in a box. Sometimes a deeper conversation reveals strengths showing up in ways you haven't previously recognized.
Does CliftonStrengths mean I should ignore my weaknesses?
No.
Strengths-based development isn't about ignoring weaknesses. It's about intentionally investing in your natural talents while finding strategies, support, or partnerships to manage areas that require more effort.
The goal isn't to become equally strong in everything. The goal is to better understand and intentionally use what you naturally do best.
Can CliftonStrengths help with career transitions?
Yes, but perhaps not in the way people sometimes expect.
CliftonStrengths won't tell you exactly what career to pursue. What it can do is help you better understand the environments, responsibilities, and ways of working that naturally energize you.
Whether you're considering a new role, changing industries, returning to work, or exploring what's next, your strengths can provide valuable insight into how you naturally approach challenges, relationships, leadership, and decision-making.
Can CliftonStrengths tell me what career I should have?
No.
The assessment isn't designed to prescribe a career path. It can, however, help you better understand how you're naturally wired to contribute, collaborate, communicate, and perform at your best.
Many people find that understanding their strengths helps them make more informed career decisions.
Can CliftonStrengths improve relationships and communication?
Many people find that it does.
When you understand your own strengths, you often gain greater awareness of how you communicate, solve problems, make decisions, and interact with others. You may also begin to appreciate that people approach situations differently because their natural talents differ.
This understanding can create more empathy, improve communication, and strengthen both personal and professional relationships.
Can teams, partners, or couples use CliftonStrengths together?
Yes, Absolutely!
CliftonStrengths can provide valuable insight into how different people naturally communicate, collaborate, solve problems, make decisions, and contribute to shared goals.
Whether you're part of a team, partnership, marriage, or family, understanding one another's strengths can foster greater appreciation, reduce misunderstandings, and strengthen relationships.
When considering my CliftonStrengths assessment, can my strengths change over time?
Your core talents tend to remain relatively stable over time, but how they show up can evolve as you gain experience, develop new skills, and move through different seasons of life.
You may notice your strengths being expressed differently in your career, relationships, leadership roles, or personal growth journey. As your life changes, your understanding and application of your strengths can deepen as well.
I have taken CliftonStrengths before, should I take CliftonStrengths again?
Most people don't need to retake the assessment frequently.
Because CliftonStrengths measures natural patterns of talent, your overall profile tends to remain relatively consistent. Many people find greater value in learning how to apply and develop their existing strengths rather than taking the assessment multiple times.
If you've experienced significant life changes or taken the assessment many years ago, retaking it may be worth considering.
How can I continue developing my strengths after our conversation?
Awareness is the beginning, not the finish line.
The real value of CliftonStrengths comes from intentionally applying your strengths in everyday life. After our conversation, you may begin paying closer attention to how your strengths show up in your work, relationships, decisions, and challenges.
The goal isn't simply to know your strengths. It's to use them more intentionally.
Do you offer ongoing coaching after the assessment?
Yes.
Many clients begin with CliftonStrengths because they're looking for greater self-awareness. For some, a single conversation is enough. Others choose to continue their growth through personalized coaching focused on leadership, career development, life transitions, communication, confidence, or personal growth goals.
If ongoing coaching feels like the right next step, we can discuss options during or after your debrief.
Is this coaching, therapy, or counseling?
CliftonStrengths conversations through The Growth Conversation focus on self-awareness, strengths, reflection, and growth. They are not therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment.
Is my information confidential?
Yes. Your assessment results and conversations are kept confidential and used solely to support your personal development experience.
